Hone 1:1 Coaching gives you dedicated time with a coach to work through the leadership challenges, goals, and opportunities that matter most in your role. You’ll work with the same coach across a series of sessions, giving you continuity to reflect, take action, and build toward meaningful outcomes over time.
From choosing your coach to scheduling and managing your sessions, your 1:1 Coaching experience happens directly in Hone.
Where to find 1:1 Coaching
When you’re given access to 1:1 Coaching, you’ll receive a welcome email from Hone introducing the coaching experience and how to get started. The link in the email takes you directly to your 1:1 Coaching page in Hone.
You can also open 1:1 Coaching anytime from the left-hand navigation in Hone: select Coaches, then 1:1 Coaching.
What to expect
Getting set up takes three short steps: tell us about yourself, choose your coach, and book your sessions.
1. Tell us about yourself
Before choosing a coach, you’ll complete a short intake about your role, current challenges, leadership style, and what you’d like to accomplish through coaching.
Your answers help Hone identify coaches who are a strong match for your goals. The coach you choose will also read your responses before your first session, so the more specific you are, the more your coach can tailor your time together.
2. Choose your coach
Based on your intake, Hone will recommend coaches who are a strong fit for what you want to work on. Each recommendation shows the coach’s focus areas, background, and location. Select View profile to learn more about a coach’s experience and coaching approach, then select Choose coach for the coach who feels like the best fit.
How are coaches recommended? Hone compares your intake responses with each coach’s focus areas, so coaches who match more of what you shared appear higher in your list. Hone also uses the timezone in your Hone profile to recommend coaches located closer to you, and only recommends coaches who currently have availability to take on a new coachee.
- Once you choose a coach, you’ll stay with that coach throughout your coaching journey. This creates continuity between sessions and gives you time to build toward your goals together.
None of your recommendations feel like the right fit? Select Edit my answers to update your intake responses, and Hone will re-match you.
3. Book your sessions
Once you’ve selected a coach, you’ll see their availability. Choose a date on the calendar, select an available time, and then select Book session. Times are shown in your local time zone.
You can book all of your sessions upfront, or book your first session and select Complete setup to schedule the rest later from your 1:1 Coaching page. Plan to use your sessions within your coaching access window. Your booking page shows the date your sessions should be completed by.
Each booked session includes a calendar invitation with the details you’ll need to attend.
4. Attend your coaching sessions
Each session is an opportunity to focus on a real challenge, decision, or development goal that matters to you. As you continue meeting with your coach, you can build on previous conversations, reflect on what you’ve tried, and decide what to work on next.
Your 1:1 Coaching page shows your next session, your upcoming sessions, and how many of your sessions you’ve booked, completed, or missed. You can also select Book session here to schedule any remaining sessions.
5. Share feedback after each session
After each session, you’ll be asked to complete a brief survey in Hone. Your feedback helps track the value and outcomes of your coaching experience, helps your coach prepare for your next session, and helps Hone continue improving 1:1 Coaching.
Managing your sessions
Rescheduling or cancelling a session
Plans change. You can reschedule or cancel a session from your 1:1 Coaching page in Hone.
Please reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled start time. Sessions cancelled less than 24 hours before the start time count toward your allocated coaching sessions.
Need additional coaching sessions?
You can continue booking sessions until you’ve used your allocated coaching sessions or your coaching access period ends.
If you’ve used all of your allocated sessions and would benefit from continuing your coaching, contact your organization’s Hone administrator to ask about additional 1:1 Coaching access.
Getting the most from 1:1 Coaching
You don’t need to arrive at each session with everything figured out. Coaching works best when you bring something real to explore, such as:
- A current leadership challenge
- An important decision
- A difficult conversation
- A new responsibility
- A goal you’re working toward
Your coach can help you examine the situation from different perspectives, identify actions to try, and build on what you learn from one session to the next.
